Gaurav is an economist with EY’s Tax & Economic Policy Group and is based in Bengaluru, India. Before this, he was part of EY’s transfer pricing practice; initially in Düsseldorf, Germany, and then, briefly, in Bengaluru. Before joining EY in 2012, he spent two years as a post- doctoral researcher at RWTH Aachen University, Germany. He has a PhD from Pennsylvania State University, USA.
In some recent work with EY, he has advised Central Government ministries on the impact of the GST on investment incentives across core sectors of the Indian economy. Previously, he has worked on engagements related to IP valuation, asset-backed securitizations, M&A and inter- company services.
His academic research has been largely empirical and has taken him into fields as diverse as antitrust, consumer-demand analysis, emissions trading, real estate, spatial econometrics, and two-sided market design.
He has spoken at international research conferences and published papers in academic journals. His areas of expertise are behavioural economics, regulation and tax policy analysis, econometrics and transfer pricing aspects of business restructuring.
