Stranger and Sons
Charnelle Martins is an Alcobev scientist and Distiller, currently working as Head of Distillery, Operations, for Strangers & Sons Gin. Prior to this, she worked for five years with Diageo India as Assistant Manager, R&D. She has a strong background in whisky and gin creation from the fermentation of new make spirit to wood science and maturation as well as liquid development and blend creation.
Charnelle graduated from Abertay University, UK, with an MSc in Food and Alcohol Biotechnology. She has also worked with the Scotch Whisky Research Institute, Edinburgh and is currently completing her IBD Dip Distiller examinations London, UK.
Her blog s have won the IFBA (India Food Bloggers Awards) award for the best Beverage blog 2015 and 2016, and through her blogs, she hopes to inspire and educate readers to understand how unique each spirit can be and the science and craftsmanship that goes into every bottle. Charnelle enjoys interacting with consumers and often organises whisky appreciation sessions in pubs across Mumbai and Bangalore.
